Pantone is best known for providing a universal language of colour, which enables individuals to make colour choices throughout any project. Using advanced technology, Pantone provides colour consistency across many different platforms. From graphics to fashion, the Pantone Standards help with providing colour guidelines as well as trend forecasting. Pantone began in 1963 when they introduced the PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM®. This unique system allows for the reproduction of consistent colour anywhere around the world.

For the last twenty years, the Pantone Color Institute invests an incredible amount of time to studying colour trends that have happened throughout the year. They look at influences such as fashion, marketing and social media. These factors all help to determine which colour will be crowned as the Pantone Color of the Year. The chosen colour is influential in design, fashion and brand marketing.

This year’s winner, PANTONE 19-4052 TCX Classic Blue, is a lovely shade and we will likely be seeing much more of it. Pantone’s website describes the colour as, “a timeless and enduring blue hue elegant in its simplicity.” Colour psychology has found that blue elicits feelings of calmness and serenity. This makes it an ideal colour for your bedroom or bathroom. The colour blue also helps to encourage productivity. Therefore, it is often used in office buildings, board rooms or home offices.

Classic blue is also an excellent option for adding a pop of colour throughout your home. You might want to consider it as an accent wall in your living room, update your cupboards or island in your kitchen, or add some much-needed dimension to a space like your laundry room or mud room. Classic blue, as its name suggests, is a timeless colour choice with a variety of uses throughout your own home.
